I like the adventurous and heroic, and very human spirits of the characters, each with their own faults, but still good despite that. And, in contrast to many books I've read, I liked the main characters, as well as many of the others. I like the writing style, easy and humorous, without leaving out anything important. After that, I was hooked, and felt the need to read the rest. It was the titles of this series that first caught my eye as I was browsing the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section of a bookstore, so I bought the first one, Wild Magic. This may be due to the fact that for as long as I can remember, I have always loved animals, both real and imaginary, and entertained thoughtts of being able to speak with and become them. I have just finished reading Pierce's The Realms of the Gods, and I greatly enjoyed it as much as I did all the other books in the series. Perhaps it will be revealed in Kel's books as Pierce often brings character from past series back.(On of the many things I love about her writing.) I suggust that any fan of Tamora Pierce read this book- I know I absolutely loved it! The only thing I diliked about this book was you really don't know what ends up happening to Numair and Daine's relationship. The relationship between them seemed to me very innocent which made it all the better. This was something that did not happen in the Alanna books. Pierce really illustates this relationship very well, drawing it out, and keeping you in suspense of whether it will really happen. There were hints that Numair loved Daine in a more than a fatherly way in Emperor Mage and in this book it fully develops. In the middle of all of this is the blossoming romance between Daine and Numair. You see some old faces such as the Badger god, Kitten, Tkaa, the Stormwings, and Emperor Ozorne, but are also introduced to new sorts of creatures In the end they return safely, just in time for Daine and her wild magic to save Tortall. They must journey to the Dragonlands and run into many obstacles along the way.
Her mother wants Daine to live with her, but it is important for Daine and Numair to return back to their world with trouble brewing in Tortall.
She is reunited with her mother who has becomed a lesser god. Daine and Numair travel to the realms of the gods(hence the title) where Daine finally meets her father. This was the best book in the series and a wonderful way to bring this series to a close.
